The George Washington Cocktail is February 22nd Drink of the Day!
George Washington, best known as the first President of the United States, was much more than that. Did you know that Mr. Washington was considered one of the biggest producers of whiskey the year of his death, in 1799, with over 11,000 gallons being produced that year.
Coming out of the Oval Office and moving back to his plantation in Virginia, he had to find something to keep himself occupied. One of his workers suggested distilling spirits. He bacame very successful with this venture.
To commemorate this true patriots birthday, let’s introduce a drink that’s named after him. Happy Birthday, Mr. Washington!
George Washington
1 1/2 oz. Dry Vermouth
1 oz. Brandy
3/4 oz. Simple Syrup
1 Dash Angostura Bitters
Method: Place ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice and stir. Strain into an Old Fashioned glass with ice and garnish with a cherry.
