The Greek - American Cocktail is August 4th Drink of the Day!!
If you have been one to follow my blog, you have already seen this cocktail. I had the privilege of sampling a honey bourbon and made this drink to complement its flavor. For the one I am introducing now, I had to add the honey flavor myself. What gives this drink its uniqueness is the aroma. The combination of anise, citrus and honey scent, along with the flavor of bourbon while sipping, will have you sold. If you enjoy bourbon too much to mask all it has to offer, than this drink is for you.
I am reintroducing this cocktail for the 2013 Los Angeles International Spirits Expo as one of the signature drinks for this event. If you want to learn more on this event, which happens October 21 through October 26, go check out their website at www.laspiritsexpo.com. If you are interested in sponsoring or would like to get pricing on booths and for passes to the show, go to [email protected].
This is a perfect after-dinner cocktail to enjoy to finish off the weekend. Enjoy!
2 oz. Bourbon Whiskey
1/2 oz. Honey Syrup (3:1 Hot Water to Honey)
Ouzo
Garnish: Orange Twist
Method: In a brandy snifter, pour in about 1/2 oz. of Ouzo. Swirl it around in the glass, making sure to cover the inside of the glass, then dump out the excess. The viscosity of the ouzo will allow it to layer the inside of the glass. Add ice to fill the glass half way. Pour in the measured amounts of bourbon and honey syrup. Stir. Take an orange rind and twist it over the glass, allowing the oils from the rind to disperse over the cocktail. Rub the rim of the snifter with the twist before dropping it into the drink.
