The Harvey Wallbanger is April 9th Drink of the Day!!

April 9, 2013 | By | Add a Comment

This drink has been around since the early 1950s and helped bring Galliano to the forefront in the United States. Invented by three-time world mixologist champion and proprietor of Blackwatch Bar on Sunset Blvd., Donato “Duke” Antone. The drink is named after a Manhatten Beach surfer who was a regular at his establishment.

This is a very simple drink to put together. The one thing I do need to warn you about is that many put way too much Galliano in the cocktail. No more than 3/4 oz. should be used, if not less. Galliano is a great mix that brings out the best in the other ingredients if it isn’t used in excess.

If a screwdriver isn’t going to be enough for you, kick it up a notch by making it a Havey Wallbanger!

Harvey Wallbanger

1 1/2 oz. Vodka

Orange Juice

1/2 oz. Galliano

Method: Build this drink in a highball glass filled with ice by first adding the measured amount of vodka. Fill to about one inch from the top of the glass with orange juice. Top off with a float of Galliano. Stir and serve.
