The Holidays Bring in New Customers
The spirit of the holidays and spending time with old friends send people out to enjoy company with others who are doing the same. It makes for a room full of patrons in the spirit to meet new acquaintances while enjoying the warmth of the room, the atmosphere of great conversation, and the feeling of cameradarie between those they know and those that will soon become part of their circle of friends on this particular evening. There’s nothing like the presence of brotherhood in a room full of strangers.
The person who brings these people together and that’ll make the night a successful one will be no one other than the host of the room. Be it the waitress that will be serving them their favorite quaff, or the bartender that initiates the conversation with the person sitting next to them at the bar, it will be up to the ones who are serving the masses on whether the night will be full of great memories, or one that will not be forgotten soon enough.
For you, as the bartender or server, this is your opportunity to build up a stronger clientele. These people who are out for the holidays would have not come in for any other reason but to join in on this festive time of the year. Why not move your game up a notch and entertain them to the point where there will be no doubt in their minds where they want to go the next time they get the notion to have a libation, or two?
This is your time to shine! If I’m not mistaken, we are in the business to enjoy the people who come in to see us. We are there to be that fond memory, that space in time that will not soon be forgotten because we did our part to make it memorable in a good way. Just be sure to keep it safe while doing so by making sure these folks enjoying a good time have a way to get home safely after doing so.
I wish all of my fellow servers and bartenders a very joyous holiday season and a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!
