The Income Tax Cocktail is July 1st Drink of the Day!!
Ah yes, the dreaded income tax. We are all well aware on how much money this takes out of our take-home every pay. Amazing that the politicians in Washington can sleep at night knowing that they are actually spending more than what we’re giving to them. Now, after years of undisiplined spending and countless bad decisions based on political lines, we find that we will be probably paying much more sooner than later. Alright, enough of my own political views - and people wonder why we have libations to fall back on. This, in itself is as good excuse as any to quench yourself with a finely made cocktail.
On this day, back in 1943, the government began taking income tax out of worker’s wages. This was due to the debt that we being incrued with the policies set in place by President Roosevelt to help bring the country out of the Great Depression. If I’m not mistaken, this was meant to be only a temporary and voluntary thing. However, once you begin borrowing from Peter to pay Paul, it’s hard to go back to the old ways as we are now seeing.
This is an old classic that will make you forget for a moment and actually enjoy something that’s much easier to put down. Enjoy!
