The Mile-High Orgasm and the Cosmic Cow are June 8th Drinks of the Day!!
I have the priveledge of working at a busy hotel bar in Northeast Ohio. Most of my clientele consist of the weary business traveler, looking to whet his or her whistle after a long and challenging day on the road. Many types of personalities come in to see me for a cocktail. The nice thing about my type of bar is that the only regulars I see are that of the traveler who stays for a couple days and returns maybe a month or two later. I’ve become someone that they can enjoy a story with while sipping on a beer or other drink of choice and meet many of the others who happen to be sitting next to them doing the same.
A couple days ago, I had a group of four in from Iowa. They’re opening a place of business in Akron, my town, and have become the frequent visitors I mentioned earlier. One of these folks is a giant of a man; one, you would think, would order a whiskey neat and a double whiskey to wash it down. Alas, one should never read a book by its cover. The man I speak of tests my mixing prowess everytime he comes in. He is one who likes sweet and fruity, yet unique. It’s fun to hear the ribbing he gets from his colleagues when he orders. However, we have come up with a couple cocktails that I’d like to share with you today. The combination of these may seem odd. Yet, they’re probably some of the tastiest drinks I’ve ever had, so their worth the print!
One of these drinks are easy to make. The other may take time to master, but once you do, you’ll have yourself something that will knock your socks off! The complex one, The Mile-High Orgasm, is the heights you’ll reach when getting it right, (sorry Denver, not named after you).
The Cosmic Cow
1 1/2 oz. Vodka
3/4 oz. Coffee Liqueur (I used Kahlua)
Chocolate Milk
Method: Pour the vodka and kahlua in an Old Fashioned glass filled with ice. Top off with chocolate milk. Shake hard two times. Strain drink in new Old Fashioned glass with ice.
The Mile-High Orgasm
1 oz. Vanilla infused Vodka
1/2 oz. Coffee Liquor
1/2 oz. Irish Cream
1/2 oz. Creme de Cacao (Dark)
1/2 oz. Half and Half
3/4 oz. Mango Juice (From Concentrate)
Whipped Cream
1/2 oz. Chambord
Method: Pour ingredients, except the whipped cream and chambord, into a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into a cocktail glass or daiquiry glass (I used a cocktail glass). Take a can of whipped cream and dispense some on the top of the drink. Gently pour the chambord on top of the whipped cream, allowing it to drizzle into the drink from the whipped cream.
