On this day, in 1913, McKinley Morganfield was born on this day. Known to all of us as Muddy Waters, he would revolutionize the blues scene in Chicago. He is considered the “Father of Modern Chicago Blues”. In Rolling Stone Magazine’s “100 Greatest Artists of all Time”, he is listed at #17. With his ability to make his guitar cry and his recognizable voice, who’s to doubt otherwise.

I came up with a drink for Cockspur Fine Rum just this year that bears the name of this incredible artist. With its chocolate, orange and raspberry notes to meet the flavor of this great rum, you’ll have a drink that will become a favorite! If you can’t get your hands on the rum, due to it being in only a few markets at this time, you may have to use another rum for the time. However, if you do have this, I highly suggest getting a bottle for your bar at home. This rum has its own character that you’ll enjoy.

Muddy Waters
1 oz. Cockspur Fine Rum
1/2 oz. Raspberry Liqueur
1/2 oz. Dark Creme de Cacao
2 oz. Orange Juice

Method: Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake well then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange slice.
