The Nevada Cocktail is March 19th Drink of the Day!!
It’s hard to believe it’s been less than 100 years since they established gambling in Nevada, but that’s the case. On this day, in 1931, the Nevada Legislature legalized gambling, opening up the doors for places such as Reno and Lake Tahoe to prosper. It also brought into existance the city of Las Vegas. Ah, yes, the sound of the bells ringing and the showgirls dancing the night away wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for this. And let’s not forget the many couples who’ve been married (and divorced) here.
To recognize this big part of history, I’d like to introduce a drink named after the state that’s given us our adult get-away. This drink is a combination of sweet and sour. The citrus edge with the sugar and rum, as you will find out, is a great combination.
Nevada Cocktail
2 oz. Light Rum
2 oz. Grapefruit Juice
Juice of one lime
2 tsp. sugar
Dash Angostura Bitters
Method: Pour ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
