The Ramones Cocktail is July 15th Drink of the Day!!

If you lived in the seventies and eighties, you remember the glam rock movement and the punk rock scene. In my view, this was a great time to be alive, enjoying music that you couldn’t help but bop your head to. New York City is considered by many to be the birthplace of punk rock, and it happened when a band called The Ramones would make their debut at CBGBs in 1974. They would be instumental in introducing a new sound that was simple, yet catchy, that would stir a new generation that wanted their own new sound. With the Ramones, they got what they asked for.

Marky Ramone the last drummer for the band, was born on this day in 1956. To celebrate, I found a drink named after the Founding Fathers of the sound that would be around through the last half of the 70s and all of the 80s. So, put on some Ramones Mania while sitting back and sipping on one of these. Just be careful not to get too “sedated” drinking too many of these, or you may find yourself with a “labotomy”.

Ramones Cocktail
1 1/2 oz. Dark Rum
3/4 oz. Vodka
Orange Juice
Splash of Lime Juice
Lime Wedge for garnish

Method: Start by pouring the dark rum and vodka into a highball glass filled with ice. Top off to about 1/4″ from the top of the glass with orange juice. Add a splash of lime juice then stir. Garnish with a lime wedge.
