The Randy Little Kiwi Cocktail is December 13th Drink of the Day!!

Abel Tasman, while working for the United East India Company as a merchant sailor, discovered New Zealand in 1642. This explorer is also known for being the first European to land on what is now Tasmania and he also was the first to sight the Fiji Islands.

The drink I chose today is the nickname for New Zealanders and for the birds who live there. It was interesting enough to share with you today. This cocktail was probably one of the smoothest and refreshing drinks I’ve had the opportunity to try, and I’ve tried quite a few in my years in the industry. The uniquiness alone of this drink, due to using kiwi as one of its ingredients, will definately be a great conversation piece during a party. The color is unmatched. So, if you want to really try something new and unique, now’s your chance!

Randy Little Kiwi Cocktail

1 oz. Vodka

1 oz. Melon Liqueur

2 Tsp. Sugar

1/2 a pealed Kiwi

Method: Drop the pealed 1/2 kiwi and sugar into an old fashioned glass. Begin to muddle to blend the sugar and kiwi together. Once you start doing this, you’re going to start asking yourself what you got yourself into. Once you are done muddling, set the glass off to the side. Take a shaker tin filled no more than half way with ice. Pour in the vodka and melon liqueur. Cap off the tin with the old fashioned glass with the kiwi / sugar blend, making sure you have a good seal. Shake well and long enough to frost the outside of the tin. Strain the ingredients into an old fashioned glass with new ice. Stir and serve.
