The Roosevelt Cocktail is June 16th Drink of the Day!!
FDR happened to be the President that was in power for most of the Great Depression. Thinking for ways to get our country back on track was important to change the mind set people had and bring things out of this dark part of American History. On this day in 1933, President Roosevelt signed The National Recovery Act. This act allowed cartels and monopolies to try to kick-start the economy. It also opened the door to allow him to begin the National Public Works, (under the Works Progress Administration). Many of the pavillions that you see in many of the parks throughout the United States today were built due to the support of this program. It also fed millions of people that were struggling during this time. It was part of the overall New Deal Agency, actually the largest part.
During its existance, it helped many families that would have otherwise starved during these dire times. For this reason, I feel this drink was fitting for the “Drink of the Day”. Bearing the Roosevelt name, it’s a unique cocktail that was introduced to liquor.com by Simon Ford.
