If you live in the United States, or anywhere else in the world for that matter, you know that this is the anniversary of one of the most criminal acts in this country’s history. However, since we will probably be hearing about this all over the place, and due to the fact I don’t want to give these groups any more press than they already receive, I want to talk about a little more enlightning history of the day.

On this day in 1847, in a saloon in Pittsburg, PA, Stephen Foster introduced a song that is still very popular to this day: “Oh! Susanna”. Stephen Foster is considered the Father of American Music. Though he lived a short life, he wrote many songs that stood the test of time. Some of these songs are: Camptown Races, Old Folk at Home (Swanee River), and Beautiful Dreamer just to name a few.

To celebrate the date this song was introduced to the world, I have found a drink that describes this song writer and the gift he was willing to share with us. So, open up the piano, stand around a sing this song while sipping on a couple of these.
