The Tequila Sunrise is April 10th Drink of the Day!!

Ah, yes, another tequila drink! After going a while not having one, I think I’ve introduced a half dozen in the last month. How can you go wrong with this blue agave spirit? One thing a lot of people don’t realize is that for it to be considered tequila, it has to meet certain requirements. Here’s a few…

* Tequila can only be produced in the state of Jalisco and limited regions of the states of Guanajuato, Michoacan, Nayarit, and Tamaulipus.

* It has to be produced from the Blue Agave plant that grows from the volcanic dark soils in these regions. In any other region the spirit is just an agave spirit and cannot, by law, be called a tequila.

* Mexico has international rights to the name “tequila” with an agreement with the United States to ship bulk supply to the states to bottle.

This drink is second only to the Margarita in popularity in regards to tequila based cocktails. I hope you enjoy!
