The Trolley Car is April 6th Drink of the Day!!
On this day, back in 1957, the last of the trolley car routes stopped running in New York City, after being part of the city for over seventy years. Cars, busses and subways made trolleys expendable. It’s heyday had been gone for sometime, since the late 20s, and they were only running with a few routes by the time this took place. An era in transportation was on its way out.
To remember this day, I’d like to introduce you to a frozen drink with the same name. With spring in full gear, we’ll be ready for something cold and refreshing while cooking on the grill!
The Trolley Car (Frozen Drink)
1 1/2 oz. Amaretto
2 oz. Strawberries
2 Scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
Cream (optional)
Method: Place ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. To make it even more light and creamy, add a little cream during the blending process. Pour into a parfait glass and garnish with a strawberry.
