This Bittersweet Voyage is at its end.

I appreciate all who have followed me these past few years. I hope that I have educated you enough for you to realize that there really are no rules when it comes to making cocktails; only that you want to blend in flavors that will most stimulate your palate. Someone asked me once what my favorite drink to make was. Honestly, my favorite cocktail is the one that is going to most satisfy the person that I am making it for at that moment. It is important to realize, especially when tending bar, that you are not making the drink to satisfy you. You are making it for that person that’s sitting in front of you.

I have a heavy heart on the news I am about to share with you today. But, nothing is more important to me than family. It is for this reason that I have taken many hours and devoted it to the projects I am working on for these many years. My goal was to figure out a way to make a living sharing my passion and doing this long after I retired from behind the bar. But, due to this not really getting it to where I needed it to be and for the mental health of my children, it is time to put this on the shelf. Today’s Drink of the Day will be the last one, and this will be my last post.

I am going to keep the website up, so please come back to peruse and check out some of the Drinks of the Day of the past. There are over 1000 cocktail ideas on here, with over 400 of those with step-by-step videos showing you how to make that particular drink. Please, tell your friends and check them out. Who knows? Maybe, one day this will go viral and I will have a reason to revive it!

The main purpose for doing this website in the first place was to promote my book on bar etiquette entitled, “Extra Dry with a Twist: An Insider’s Guide to Bartending”. If you are looking for a book about the art of people, this would be it. You can get it on amazon.com. Also, I have a YouTube page that will stay on as well. If you don’t feel like going through each Drink of the Day post, you can go to www.YouTube.com/ShaunTheBartender and find all of my videos.

For everyone who has made it easy for me to keep this going, the ones who have been loyal with their comments and shares, I’m sorry that I am doing this. I will be keeping on with my social networks, so keep in touch….PLEASE!

As for now my friends, it is not good-bye - just a break for now. I hope you all understand. Sometimes, you have to make decisions that are painful either way. This is what makes sense for now. Hopefully, I will look back on this and laugh one day. As I wipe a tear from my cheek, I will for now say ADIEU!

Shaun, you’ve been awesome. I haven’t ever made a comment on a drink or a video because they are all so special, but I wanted to come and give you your proper thanks. The time and effort devoted on your part was phenomenal. As a college bartender, I was able to elevate my “game” behind the bar. I was able to better serve all crowds I came across, both the rowdy college kids and certainly the laid back working adults that have patroned the bar I work at. Every drink has a story and I have been able to relay those to the people I served. I will miss opening my e-mail to read the latest life stories and cocktail combinations, but I will rest assured you’re journey is only an internet bookmark away!

If you’re ever rolling through Wisconsin, it’d be my pleasure to serve you a drink on myself.

    All the best, sir!
