The Vicious Sid is March 3rd Drink of the Day!!
There are those cocktails that seem to be made with a majority of mixes that take away from the alcohol content of the overall drink. These beverages are meant to be more of a social thing than anything else; something to sip on while entertaining guests. Or, they are made so people who don’t like to taste the liquor can enjoy an adult drink and still get a little of the benefits of it. Then there are those that combine the correct liquors together in one glass to do the same thing, which is hide the flavor of the booze. The correct measure on these cocktails gets rid of the liquor flavor, while keeping the cocktail at a higher alcohol content level, even sometimes raising it. These are the ones you need to be aware of. Being responsible for your intake will be important while enjoying these.
This is a cocktail full of flavor, yet it doesn’t take away from the alcohol experience. In fact, it enhances it to the point that you will have to moderate and be sure the designated driver is handy. A combination of the base liquor, rum, and complementing it with the right amount of Southern Comfort and Triple Sec. The fresh lemon blends these three liquors quite nicely and gives it that much needed amoma with each sip. This rum drink is definitely a keeper.
Vicious Sid
1 1/2 oz. White Rum
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1/2 oz. Southern Comfort
Juice from half Lemon
2 Dashes Aromatic Bitters
Method: In a mixing glass filled with ice, pour the first three ingredients to measure. Squeeze in the juice from half a lemon, discarding the remnants after doing so. Cap off with a tin and shake well. Strain into an old fashioned glass filled half way with ice. Take a strip of a lemon rind and twist it over the drink, allowing the oils from the rind to disperse over the drink. Rub it gently on the rim of the glass before dropping it into the drink. Add a couple dashes of aromatic bitters. Stir the bitters in while tamping down the twist.
