Drink of the Day: Stiletto
Good Thursday morning, everyone. Hope you are living in an area that isn’t getting hit with this Arctic chill. I am a fan of snow and the four-season year. What I am not a fan of are these below zero temperatures that seem to be staying put this last week. I am beginning to question my tolerance of the cold.
I was going to introduce you yet another tropical cocktail to get you back in an upbeat mood and to remind you that nice weather is just around the corner. Yet, I am not going to do that today. With the forecasters talking that tonight will be the coldest of an already chilly season, I thought I may have to give you a beverage that will fight the elements a little. Nothing like a little heat in the glass to warm you on the inside.
This is a very simple cocktail to make. While imbibing, you will be surprised at how well the lemon and amaretto hide the “bite” of the liquor, yet opens the bouquet of the main ingredient, which in this case is the bourbon whiskey. Nothing like getting into the true flavor of bourbon. There are so many things involved in getting the final product when making it, from the smash used when distilling, then the aging process in virgin oak, smoked barrels. Getting rid of the harshness of the liquor will bring out all of the sweetness this type of whiskey has to offer.
There is nothing like enjoying one of these while watching a nicely built fire dance around, while looking at the frost build up on the window as you keep warm in the confines of your home.
Stay warm, my friends! Cheers!
