Greetings to you, my friends!
I have to give props to Tiffany Bounce for this recipe. She is a colleague of mine at Twiisted Sushi Grill and Bar. The interesting part about her coming up with this cocktail is that she is a teetotaler. In fact, she had to take the word of fellow employees to make sure she put everything together well, for she did not even want to taste it. The more I thought about that, I can understand. How can someone who really isn’t into drinking even give this cocktail it’s fair critique?
When putting this cocktail together, Tiffany followed the rules I speak of almost daily on here. Give every ingredient its due diligence by looking for proper balance, ensuring each ingredient works well in complementing one another. Using proper measures to make sure of uniformity in flavor and presentation are also important.
Our customers tend to like their drinks on the sweet side, so this mixed beverage fits that nicely. However, me being one who likes to get more of the flavor of the spirit, I am going to throw in an option. Tiffany used a ginger ale wash to finish the cocktail with. If this tends to be too sweet for your liking, substitute that ingredient with soda water.
Enjoy your day. Remember, today is day one of the rest of your life. Let’s start it off on the right note.
5 – 10 Fresh Blueberries
1 Tsp Brown Sugar
Juice of 1/2 Lemon
1 1/2 oz. White Rum
Ginger Ale (if you want a less sweet beverage, substitute this ingredient with soda water)
Method: Place the first three ingredients into a highball glass. Muddle together until you have a mash. Add rum. Add ice. Top with ginger ale. Garnish with some more blueberries and a lemon wedge on the rim of the glass.
