Welcome to September, ladies and gentlemen. Wow, this summer went quick. The kids are back in school and we will be enjoying our last summer holiday this coming weekend. I have a cocktail for you that you can add to your dance card this coming weekend. And you will have a couple days prior to work on it and do a couple trial runs for yourself before introducing it to your guests during the long weekend gatherings.
We are getting close to those chilly days and cold nights. Let’s enjoy these next couple weeks as much as we can. Living in the MidWest, I can tell you that if this coming winter is anything close to what the last couple had in store for us, I will consider changing my zipcode to a more stable environment. Until then, I will soak up these summer days with a tropical beverage that will keep me in those mid-Summer moments with its fruit flavor and Caribbean kick.
Stay warm my friends, and cool yourself down with this fine excuse for a break. Cheers!
1 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Rum
1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1/4 oz. Simple Syrup
Juice of 1/4 Lemon
Method: Combine the first five ingredients, to measure, in a mixing glass filled with ice. Pour in equal parts of pineapple juice, orange juice, and cranberry juice to top off the cocktail. Cap with a tin and shake to blend the ingredients. Strain into a new pint glass with ice. Garnish with a lemon/lime/cherry flag.
